Turkmenistan prepares anniversary week of Turkic culture

On the 30th anniversary of the founding of the International Organisation of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY), Turkmenistan will host the Week of Turkic Culture from 24 to 29 June, according to Daryo.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that one of the priorities of Turkmenistan's foreign policy is the promotion of cultural diplomacy, the news site added. 

"Turkmenistan attaches great importance to the development of multifaceted cooperation with reputable organizations. TURKSOY is among them," he said.

The news site recalled that TURKSOY was founded in 1993 as a result of an agreement between the Ministers of Culture of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and the Republic of Turkey.

Later, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, the regions of the Russian Federation - Tatarstan, Bashkortostan, Altai, Sakha (Yakutia), Tuva, Khakassia and Gagauzia within Moldova - joined as observer states.
