Xinhua news agency reported that an ancient Chinese painting is recreated in three dimensions as the world's largest LEGO building. The Guinness World Record-breaking installation is on display in a 45-square-metre exhibition in a Hong Kong shopping mall until October 31.

The creators have used LEGO to create one of the most famous paintings, "Along the River during the Qingming Festival", also known as "China's Mona Lisa". The painting, created using a technique known as paint-painting, is the work of Zhang Zeduan (1085-1145 AD), a famous artist of the Northern Song Dynasty. Even the original scroll is large: it was applied to a silk cloth 24.8 cm high and 5.2 m wide. Today it is on display at the China Art Museum in Shanghai.

Built in the mall, the LEGO replica stretches 26 metres long and was made from almost 3 million pieces.

The game replicates scenes from the original. The detail of the picture of everyday life in the city is reflected in the 814 people, 28 boats, 60 animals, 30 buildings, 20 vehicles, and 170 trees. More than 1,000 young people have created the building, revealing that they feel a slight lack of detail in the LEGO sets, for example, in the human figures.
