László Kövér, Speaker of the National Assembly, will pay a one-week official visit to China from 5 to 12 November at the invitation of Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China, who will lead a delegation representing Hungary, Xinhua news agency reported.
Speaking at a recent reception to mark the 75th anniversary of the establishment of the People's Republic of China and the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Hungary, Mr Kövér said that China is not a threat but an opportunity. He said that it was in Hungary's interest to be not just a bridge but a link between East and West. He said that if there is cooperation between East and West in the world, Hungary will also develop.
China has now become Hungary's largest trading partner outside Europe, the President of the National Assembly stressed. He stressed that Chinese investments in the automotive, electronics, and financial sectors have contributed to Hungary's economic growth and created jobs.
He also pointed out that without China, there could be no balance of power in 21st-century world politics that would create peace. At the same time, he stressed, a new world order based on cooperation, peace, and security can only be created in a spirit of mutual respect, which Hungary and countries like it deserve. He noted that Hungarian-Chinese relations are based on this.
Kövér also recently visited Türkiye.
