Georgia held its parliamentary elections on Saturday, which were won overwhelmingly by the ruling Georgian Dream. Viktor Orbán was among the first to congratulate them. The Hungarian EU Presidency treats Georgia's accession to the EU as a priority.

Prime Minister Viktor Orbán will pay an official visit to Georgia on 28-29 October, Bertalan Havasi, the Prime Minister's press chief, confirmed to MTI on Sunday, citing Georgian press reports quoting information from the Tbilisi government.

According to media reports, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has invited his Hungarian counterpart, and the delegation will also include Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Minister of Economic Development Márton Nagy and Finance Minister Mihály Varga.

There will be one-on-one talks, followed by plenary discussions, after which Irakli Kobakhidze and Viktor Orbán will make a joint press statement.

The visit comes just days after the parliamentary elections on Saturday. The ruling Georgian Dream—Democratic Georgia party won more than 54 percent of the vote, with almost 100 percent of the votes processed.

Viktor Orbán X has already congratulated the Prime Minister and the Dream Georgia on their landslide victory. - The people of #Georgia know what is best for their country, and made their voice heard today!- he wrote.

Pétre Szijjártó was also among the first to congratulate the results. The Foreign Minister hastened to assure Georgia that "during the remainder of our Presidency, and of course afterward, we will give our Georgian friends every support to succeed in their European integration efforts".
