Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan announced on Sunday a major trade corridor project (global trade artery) to connect Türkiye with Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates via Iraq.

In a press statement, Erdoğan said, “We are working with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Emirates, and Iraq to establish a large trade corridor (a global trade artery) that connects our countries, coming from those countries to Basra (southern Iraq), passing through Iraq to Türkiye.”

He added, “We want to take quick and important steps in this file in the near future.” Erdoğan met Saudi Crown Prince Mohamed bin Salman on the sidelines of the 18th G20 Summit in the Indian capital New Delhi, where they discussed bilateral relations between the two countries as well as regional and international affairs.

In this context, Saudi Crown Prince Mohamed bin Salman announced on Sunday that he signed a memorandum of understanding on a project to create a new economic corridor between India, the Middle East and Europe.
