"China has recently lifted restrictions due to the coronavirus, so Chinese citizens can travel again," Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó recalled on his
Facebook page. He pointed out that "the competition for Chinese tourists in Europe has started, and the winners will be those countries that have more and better air connections with China."
"To this end, we have recently amended our bilateral air traffic agreement, and the first good news has arrived, with the opening of a new flight between our countries," wrote Szijjártó, who recently attended the China CEEC Expo in Ningbo.
China Eastern Airlines will fly twice a week between Ningbo and Budapest from mid-June.
"Ningbo has already played an important role in China-Central Europe trade cooperation and is also the logistics hub of China's fourth most economically productive province, with a strong automotive industry," the minister stressed.
"The launch of this new flight will bring us closer to regaining our pre-COVID position when Budapest received the highest number of flights from China among the Central European capitals," Szijjártó added.
