The university increases its competitiveness and demonstrates great progress in the international educational market.
In 2022, ENU was awarded the status of a research university, which opens up new opportunities for the university to develop in the scientific field. ENU provides a high-quality cycle of continuing education: College - Bachelor’s degree – Master’s Degree – Doctoral Degree, PhD – MBA/EMBA-Advanced Training. Today, about 20,000 students from Kazakhstan and 25 countries study at the university. Training is conducted in more than 260 educational programmes, and a European-style Diploma Diploma Supplement is issued.
ENU has 13 faculties, a military department, a college, 31 research institutes, a School of professional and continuing education, a Nuclear Technology Park, and a number of cultural and educational centres.
The university publishes 18 scientific journals, 3 of which are included in the international Web of Science Core Collection database: “Eurasian Journal of Mathematical and Computer Applications”, “Eurasian Mathematical Journal”, “Eurasian Journal of Physics and Functional Materials”.
The university conducts research on six research and educational clusters:

2) Mathematics and Information technologies
3) Biology, biomedicine and biotechnology
4) Chemistry and Earth Sciences
5) Social and Humanitarian sciences
6) Engineering
Student life is actively developing at the university. There are more than 60 student organizations operating in different directions. We have our own student theatre, orchestra, dance school, vocal and instrumental ensemble, and so on. Creative student groups take prizes in international competitions. Over a quarter of a century of the university’s existence, ENU has trained more than 80,000 specialists.
Recognizing its central role in international education and research, ENU offers favourable conditions for international students through the “Welcome to ENU” program for incoming exchange students with free tuition and accommodation fee waiver. Moreover, ENU has recently announced its own scholarships for the international students “Kultegin” and “Gumilyov” that helps to support talented youth from all over the world.
The university is always open to cooperation, new initiatives, projects, and offers that are beneficial for all parties. Today, it cooperates with more than 400 universities and research institutes from almost all over the world, including partner universities from Hungary.
The university actively cooperates with its Hungarian colleagues in the field of science and education. To date, international cooperation between ENU and Hungarian universities is carried out in the areas of academic mobility, visiting professors, and research internships for doctoral students, as well as on the basis of agreements and agreements with the University of Obuda, University of Szeged, Central European University, the University of St. Istvan, University of Debrecen, Institute of Social Studies of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, Eszterhazy Karoly University of Applied Sciences.
Among the honorary professors of ENU are Péter Szijjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, and Mihály Varga, Minister of Finance of Hungary.
In 2021, ENU hosted the grand opening of the Hungarian Language Center with the support of the Hungarian Embassy in Kazakhstan, where Hungarian language courses are taught.
All these advantages make ENU the place that offers a unique and valuable learning experience and prepare its graduates for success in their future academic and professional endeavours. And here are some of the examples from the international student’s experience:
“I met many excellent teachers who gave me a lot of inspiration and encouragement,” Zhenis Aliya, a Philology Faculty-student from China, said. “Also, I really enjoy the time I spend with my classmates. I think that Kazakhstani students are very active and creative, and they have many positive qualities that have influenced me a lot.”
Nicu Florin-Madalin, a first-year International Relations student from Romania, echoed Aliya’s sentiments about the quality of education at ENU “The balanced approach to different subjects requires theoretical research and practical activities for learning, understanding, and preserving the academic efforts of the students through the cooperative and aligned syllabuses of the lectures and seminars of the same subjects”.
