The Kyrgyz Republic views the development of cooperation with Hungary as an important element of its foreign policy, especially in the context of strengthening ties within the Organization of Turkic States (OTS). Despite the geographical distance, we are united by common values, mutual respect and the aspiration to expand multifaceted dialogue.
Kyrgyzstan, as a founding Member of the OTS, welcomes such involvement and considers Hungary an important partner capable of making a valuable contribution to the development of the OTS as a platform for joint sustainable development.
It should be especially noted that it was in the Kyrgyz Republic in 2018 that Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán first participated in the OTS Summit, which laid the foundation for Hungary's broad involvement in the OTS activities.
Budapest's accession to the OTS as an Observer that year was an important political step, emphasizing Hungary's intention to deepen cooperation with Turkic-speaking countries and the entirely Turkic World.
Undoubtedly, this historical fact had a positive impact on the activities of the OTS. Since then, Hungary has demonstrated a sincere intention to integrate into the Turkic space - and not only at the declarative level. We emphasize the concrete steps taken by Budapest: participation in the OTS summits, implementation of economic and humanitarian initiatives, and intensification of cultural exchanges.
The Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orbán deserves special thanks for supporting the convergence of Hungary with the Turkic World. A significant contribution was also made by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó, who actively promotes the development of bilateral and multilateral cooperation.
The activities of the Representation Office of the OTS in Budapest should be specially noted. This Office was created thanks to the intention of our Hungarian brothers for Turkic cooperation, as well as the consistent foreign policy of the Hungarian leadership.
On the initiative of the Budapest Office, the Drought Prevention Institute was created under the OTS, which will build on best practices and high technologies of Hungarian specialists in the field of water resources. In the context of global climate change, this is becoming especially relevant.
We hope that the activities of the Budapest Office of the OTS will open up new opportunities for promoting the interests of the Organization in the European area. We have high hopes for the key role of the Representation in establishing interaction between the Turkic World and Europe.
The significant circumstance is that the summit of the Heads of state of the OTS is being held in Europe for the first time. Today, Hungary acts as a "bridge" between the European Union and the Turkic states. This role opens up for the Parties new prospects of strategic cooperation based on mutual respect, common interests and the intention for joint development.
The first Hungarian-Turkic summit on culture, higher education and innovation, held on 28 April 2025 in Budapest at the initiative of the Hungarian side is also a clear indication.
We are also proud that Kyrgyzstan and Hungary are strategic partners. Our countries demonstrate a strong bilateral agenda based on mutual respect, political dialogue and active contacts at the high and highest levels.
I am convinced that further strengthening of our relations, support of political dialogue and active cooperation on the platform of the OTS will create favorable conditions for long-term interaction.
Our cooperation with the Hungarian brothers is aimed at long-term, effective and practical partnership.
