Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó left for Beijing on Sunday morning to attend the Belt and Road Forum. Prime Minister Viktor Orbán will also attend the summit.

"The fact that a new world order is emerging is quite clear. What that world order will look like is still uncertain. Unfortunately, there is a serious risk that the world will again be divided into blocs. This would be very bad for us - we have historical experience of this," Péter Szijjártó wrote on Facebook.

"Our interest is that the coming years should be about connectivity, and international cooperation. Cooperation between East and West is essential to tackle global security and economic threats,"

he stressed, adding that the Chinese President's Belt and Road Initiative serves this purpose.

Balázs Orbán, the Hungarian prime minister's political director has already arrived in Beijing on Saturday.
