Expenditure on food and beverages by visitors to hotel establishments in the UAE witnessed a robust increase of 28.5% in the past year.

Expenditure on food and beverages by visitors to hotel establishments in the UAE witnessed a robust increase of 28.5% in the past year. This surge brought the total revenue generated by the country's hotels in this category to approximately AED 12.1 billion (USD 3.2 billion), a significant rise from AED 9.4 billion (USD 2.5 billion) in 2021.

According to recent data from the Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Center, hotel food and beverage revenues accounted for 33% (one-third) of total revenues, which exceeded AED 37.8 billion (USD 10.2 billion) in 2022, compared to AED 28.1 billion (USD 7.6 billion) in 2021, a growth rate of more than 34%.

The number of hotel guests in the country increased by 31% to exceed 25.2 million guests, compared to 19.2 million guests in 2021, as well as the number of stay nights increased by 19% to 91.4 million hotel nights, compared to 77 million nights, and the number of rooms increased by 5.2% to about 204 thousand rooms, compared to 194 thousand, and the number of available rooms with a growth of 6.8% to more than 71.9 million rooms, compared to 67.3 million rooms, and the number of occupied rooms increased by 14.3% to 51.2 million rooms, compared to 44.8 million Occupancy rates increased to 71.2%, compared to 66.5%, while average accommodation decreased 9.4% to 3.63 nights, compared to 4 nights in 2021.
