Global Video Media Forum to advance cooperation, amplify voices of Global South

What role can the media play in fostering intercultural relations and understanding? How to amplify the voices of the Global South? What are the challenges and opportunities of AI for the media? These are some of the questions that were addressed at the 12th Global Video Media Forum in Quanzhou, Southern China.

Organised by China Media Group, the international conference brought together 87 outlets from more than 60 countries and regions, represented by over 200 participants. The various media outlets from the Global South, Latin America, Asia, Africa and Europe were represented, as well as well-known Western news agencies such as Reuters, AFP and AP.

The spectacular opening ceremony included speeches by leading Chinese party and media officials, former Kyrgyz Prime Minister Djoomart Otorbayev and Ian Phillips, Director of the UN's Communications and Media Division.
Participants stressed the need for the media to increase cooperation and joint action on issues such as poverty reduction, industrialisation and sustainable development, and to share concepts and practices of modernisation in developing countries.

From Hungary, Mariann Őry, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Eurázsia, Judit Nagy, Managing Director of Centrum TV and Miklós Martin-Kovács, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Centrum TV were present at the international forum.
