Former Hungarian ambassador János Hóvári passed away 
János Hóvári, the Executive Director of the Representation Office of the Organization of Turkic States in Hungary and former Ambassador of Hungary to Israel, Kuwait and Turkey, has passed away at the age of sixty-eight.

János Hóvári, the Executive Director of the Representation Office of the Organization of Turkic States in Hungary and former Ambassador of Hungary to Israel, Kuwait and Turkey, has passed away at the age of sixty-eight.

"We have learned with great sorrow the untimely demise of Mr. János Hóvári, the Executive Director of the Representation Office of the Organization of Turkic States in Hungary", wrote OTS Secretary General Kubanychbek Omuraliev in a statement on Monday.

"His dedicated efforts and professionalism to converge Hungary and the Hungarian people with the brotherly Turkic States and peoples have yielded remarkable success. His valuable contributions will not be forgotten and his memory will remain in our hearts for good", he added. 

Born in 1955, János Hóvári has held ambassadorial positions in several countries during his career, including Israel (2000-2004), Kuwait (2008-2010) and Turkey (2012-2014). Between 2010-2012, he served as Deputy State Secretary for Global Affairs. János Hóvári died at the age of sixty-eight.

Among others, former Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu expressed his condolences. 

"I am saddened by the passing of Mr. János Hóvári, Director of the European Office of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS). I convey my heartfelt condolences to the family of Mr. Hóvári, Hungarian Foreign Minister my brother Peter Szijjártó, and the OTS family. His efforts for the convergence of Hungary and the Turkic World will be remembered for good", wrote Çavuşoğlu on Twitter. 

President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Ersin Tatar praised János Hóvári's outstanding work in the field of Turkish Studies throughout his life and his efforts on strenghtening relations between the Turkish countries and Hungary.
