The global buzz around Microsoft chatbot ChatGPT has spread to China, shoring up stocks in artificial intelligence (AI) related firms and prompting a flurry of local companies to announce rival projects.

As chatbot ChatGPT has garnered global attention, more than 10 Chinese tech giants announced their ChatGPT technical storage and ChatGPT-like products and services, China Daily reported. China’s largest search engine company Baidu Inc announced that its ChatGPT-like product, called Ernie Bot, will complete its internal testing and be made public in March, but other tech companies including Alibaba, Tencent, Huawei, ByteDance, JD, 360, iFlytek, Kuaishou and Netease Youdao have all also announced their ambitions to launch ChatGPT-like products.

AI-generated content represented by ChatGPT has relatively mature technology in the field of text and image generation. Meanwhile, Microsoft, Baidu and other technology giants are expected to apply AI technology to business ecology to promote the permeability of online offices, search engines and other application scenarios, according to a research report of Zheshang Securities.

According to a report by 21st Century Business Herald it is estimated that domestic AIGC market scale will reach 40.35 billion yuan ($5.9 billion) in 2025 and 217.56 billion yuan in 2030. The report also said the market is expected to usher in explosive growth in the next few years.
