It is a great honour and source of pride for me to assume my duties as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in Budapest at a time when we are celebrating the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between our two countries. Hungary was among the first to officially recognise Vietnam and establish diplomatic ties on 3 February 1950 — 75 years ago. This was not only an important historical milestone but also the beginning of a close friendship built on trust, respect, mutual understanding, sincere sentiments, and profound human values.
Over the past 75 years, Vietnam and Hungary have become one of each other’s most important partners in their respective regions. In 2018, the two countries officially elevated their relationship to the level of a Comprehensive Partnership, marking a significant step forward and creating opportunities for extensive cooperation across all areas. This stands not only as a reaffirmation of our traditional friendship but also as evidence of the shared aspiration and determination of both countries’ leaders to build a prosperous and sustainable future for our peoples, contributing to a world of peace, stability, cooperation, and development.
Looking back over the past 75 years, we can justifiably be proud of all that we have achieved. Even more important, however, is that we are standing at the threshold of a bright future. I believe that, based on our solid ties, the high level of political trust between our countries’ leaders, the empathy and understanding between our peoples, and our shared values of peace, progress, and prosperity, Vietnam and Hungary will go on to write even more remarkable chapters in the history of their bilateral relations.
The publication of this commemorative magazine on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of Vietnam–Hungary relations is not only a memorable milestone but also a valuable contribution to preserving the shining stories of friendship between our two nations. The magazine takes readers back to key historical milestones, notable moments of cooperation, cherished memories, and forward-looking prospects for the future of the comprehensive partnership between our countries.
On this occasion, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all the individuals and organisations who have worked — and continue to work — to deepen the relationship between Vietnam and Hungary, with special regard to the Vietnamese community living in Hungary, which builds and strengthens the bridge of friendship between our peoples day by day.
I would also like to extend special thanks to Eurasia Magazine for its collaboration with the Embassy of Vietnam in Hungary in preparing this meaningful commemorative edition. The magazine is not only a valuable document, but also reflects the sentiments of Eurasia Magazine and of all those who have contributed and continue to contribute to deepening the traditional friendship between the two countries.
It gives me great pleasure to present this magazine to the readers.
