The minister stressed that Hungary has benefited greatly in recent years from its cooperation with China, which is particularly true in the field of tourism.
“This year, the number of Chinese tourists visiting Hungary will reach a quarter of a million, and they will spend around 600,000 guest nights in the country (…) The basis of our very high and active tourism traffic is that seven major Chinese cities can be reached directly by air from Budapest,” he highlighted. He then pointed out that Air China currently operates flights between Budapest and Beijing four times a week, but a decision has now been taken to make the service daily from next spring.
“This means that Budapest will be the fourth capital city in the European Union to have a daily flight to the Chinese capital,” he underlined. Péter Szijjártó described the increasingly frequent connections between the two countries as important, noting that, in his view, they are a fundamental prerequisite for close cooperation.
“It is therefore good news that, from spring, Budapest will have a daily direct air connection with Beijing as the fourth capital in the European Union,” he concluded.
